Code of Conduct
All attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers at our convention are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.
Our convention is dedicated to providing a harassment-free convention experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of convention participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate for any convention venue, including talks, workshops, parties, and online media. Convention participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the convention without a refund at the discretion of the convention organizers.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
In particular, the following rules shall be followed:
1. A non-parent/non-guardian adult shall not share the same hotel room with a minor.
2. When a non-parent/non-guardian adult are present in the same hotel room with a minor for a short period of time, the door to the hotel room shall be kept open.
3. When a non-parent/non-guardian adult occupies the same vehicle with a minor, prior parental consent from the minor shall be given, or a parent/guardian of the minor shall accompany the minor in the same vehicle.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the convention organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of convention staff immediately. Convention staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing branded badges. Reports can also be sent to convention organizers electronically at info.na@tsinghua.org.
Convention staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance.
We expect participants to follow these rules at convention and workshop venues and convention-related social events.
